My Watch

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The following is an essay I was required to write for English…

MY WATCH

My watch is nice to have around. It has quite a few advantages over having no watch at all. It also has a disadvantage, but I can overlook that after remembering all of its advantages.

One of the many advantages of my watch is the fact that it is water resistant— a useful feature when floating down a river. My watch also has a stopwatch feature, which I use daily when I run. Yet another advantage of my watch is that it tells time. This feature is very useful because it helps me make sure I’m on time to things. One final advantage of my watch is that it is easy to carry, seeing that it has a handy strap to go around my wrist.

My watch does have one disadvantage: it chimes on the hour. From what I can tell, this feature was activated when I was at the Haiti Relief Bbq at church on February 20. I was standing by Golf Course Road and holding a sign advertising the bbq, and several times I did some extreme dance moves to attract attention that involved me rolling on the grass and jumping around. The alarm on my watch suddenly went off at 12:13, and I quickly tried to turn it off. I figured out how to deactivate the alarm, but my watch has been chiming on the hour ever since then.

This chiming has proven to be quite cumbersome. Whenever the watch chimes, I jump slightly at the unexpected sound. This cumbersomeness of my watch is even worse when I’m wearing it in public, since I don’t want to shock a room full of people.

There may be a possible solution to this problem: find the owner’s manual for the watch. However, this method poses its own problem, since I would have to scour my desk for the manual. Nevertheless, I’m keeping this solution to the cumbersomeness in mind.

As you should be able to gather, my watch has many features. Most of the features are advantages, although one feature of my watch appears to be a cumbersome disadvantage. In the end, it’s my watch, and it’s nice to have around.

Bandannas

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I (Levi) was assigned to write a persuasive paragraph for English. I opted for picking my own topic, and the following is the result:

Everyone should wear a bandanna. After all, is there a better wardrobe accessory that can keep your neck warm in the winter and can also be soaked to water to cool you down in the summer? Of course not! Furthermore, bandannas are incredibly useful when it comes to cleaning things; to dust off that cabinet, all you have to do is use the cloth around your neck! Finally, and most importantly, bandannas look cool. Therefore, it is plain to see that everyone should wear a bandanna.

More Robin Hoodie!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

It appears we have started a new tradition, seeing as this evening Caleb, Mary, and I put on another play in our backyard. Of course, it was part of the continuing adventures of Robin Hoodie (Mary). This one, like the other one, had a couple of musical numbers, as well as a very hastily thought up plot line where I, (Levi [who played the Sheriff of Nottingham]) ended up losing the sword fight at the end again.

Backyard Theater

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Being bored yesterday, Mary and I tried to organize a circus. When we couldn’t quite get the mechanics of the tight rope to work, we switched over to putting on a play. Tonight, we performed “The Adventures of Robin Hoodie” for Marcus and aunts.

School is back…

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

…homeschooling, that is. With Christmas break ending on Tuesday, everyone with work to do is starting to kick back into the old routine (something I’ve been doing for eleven years now!). Thankfully, all of the filming for The Glow Bug Movie is done, so there are no LEGO sets lying around my bedroom.

We’ve been busy…

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Today has been a day full of nice, fun work. After discovering that we had mildew underneath our sink, Dad, Mom, Peter, and I have spent a long day cleaning, spraying, tearing, sanding, and painting the kitchen sink area.

Happy New Year…

We’re still alive!

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Everyone is up and kicking again, although a few people are still suffering the ills of different illnesses. This widespread recovery, of course, means that we’re back to filming The Glow Bug Movie, and it’s getting much closer to completion!
