The following is an essay I was required to write for English…
MY WATCH
My watch is nice to have around. It has quite a few advantages over having no watch at all. It also has a disadvantage, but I can overlook that after remembering all of its advantages.
One of the many advantages of my watch is the fact that it is water resistant— a useful feature when floating down a river. My watch also has a stopwatch feature, which I use daily when I run. Yet another advantage of my watch is that it tells time. This feature is very useful because it helps me make sure I’m on time to things. One final advantage of my watch is that it is easy to carry, seeing that it has a handy strap to go around my wrist.
My watch does have one disadvantage: it chimes on the hour. From what I can tell, this feature was activated when I was at the Haiti Relief Bbq at church on February 20. I was standing by Golf Course Road and holding a sign advertising the bbq, and several times I did some extreme dance moves to attract attention that involved me rolling on the grass and jumping around. The alarm on my watch suddenly went off at 12:13, and I quickly tried to turn it off. I figured out how to deactivate the alarm, but my watch has been chiming on the hour ever since then.
This chiming has proven to be quite cumbersome. Whenever the watch chimes, I jump slightly at the unexpected sound. This cumbersomeness of my watch is even worse when I’m wearing it in public, since I don’t want to shock a room full of people.
There may be a possible solution to this problem: find the owner’s manual for the watch. However, this method poses its own problem, since I would have to scour my desk for the manual. Nevertheless, I’m keeping this solution to the cumbersomeness in mind.
As you should be able to gather, my watch has many features. Most of the features are advantages, although one feature of my watch appears to be a cumbersome disadvantage. In the end, it’s my watch, and it’s nice to have around.
